Cold Lead Re-engagement Message
Write messages that re-engage leads who went quiet without being pushy or awkward.
Best for: Agents with stale databases Works with: ChatGPT, Claude
Every agent has leads who stopped responding six months ago. Reaching back out feels awkward, and most re-engagement messages (“Just checking in!”) get ignored. This prompt generates messages that give the lead a genuine reason to respond.
The Prompt
Write a re-engagement message for a cold real estate lead.
Lead Name: [CLIENT NAME]
Last Contact: [APPROXIMATE DATE - e.g., "about 6 months ago"]
Original Interest: [e.g., "was looking to buy a condo downtown", "was thinking about selling their home in [NEIGHBORHOOD]", "inquired about investment properties"]
What Happened: [e.g., "stopped responding after 3rd showing", "said they wanted to wait", "ghosted after getting pre-approved"]
Channel: [EMAIL / TEXT / DM]
Current Market Context: [ONE RELEVANT CHANGE - e.g., "rates dropped since we last spoke", "3 homes in their target neighborhood just sold above ask", "new condo development launched in their preferred area"]
Write [3] different re-engagement messages, each using a different approach:
1. THE VALUE-ADD: Share something genuinely useful related to their original interest - a market stat, a new listing, a rate change - without asking for anything.
2. THE HONEST CHECK-IN: Acknowledge the gap in communication directly. No pretending. Ask a simple yes/no question about whether their plans have changed.
3. THE SOFT TRIGGER: Reference a specific event or change in the market that's relevant to their situation, and position yourself as a resource if they want to re-explore.
Each message: 50-100 words. Tone should match the channel (email is slightly more formal, text is casual, DM is conversational). No guilt-tripping. No "I haven't heard from you." End each with a low-friction response option (yes/no question, not "let's schedule a call").
How to Use It
- Start with the Value-Add approach. If no response in 5 days, try the Soft Trigger. Save the Honest Check-In for leads you had a genuine relationship with.
- Personalization is everything. A message referencing their specific situation gets 3-5x the response rate of a generic template.
- Text messages get higher response rates than email for re-engagement. Keep texts under 50 words.
- If they don’t respond to any of the three, move them to a quarterly newsletter drip rather than continuing to chase.
Example Output
The AI will generate three short, distinct messages - one providing unsolicited value, one acknowledging the silence directly, and one using a market trigger as a conversation starter. Each message feels personal, respects the lead’s time, and makes it easy to respond with minimal effort.
