Claude
Anthropic's AI assistant, great for long documents and analysis
Our verdict
"Better than ChatGPT for reading contracts and writing nuanced copy"
Claude is Anthropic’s AI assistant, and where it pulls ahead of ChatGPT for real estate agents is in handling long documents and producing nuanced, careful writing. Upload a 30-page purchase agreement, and Claude can summarize it, flag unusual clauses, and explain contingency language in plain English. Ask it to write a delicate email to a frustrated client, and the tone is noticeably more human than what other AI tools produce.
The 200K token context window (the amount of text it can process at once) is the headline feature for agents. You can paste entire contracts, inspection reports, HOA documents, or appraisal reports and have a real conversation about the contents. “What are the seller’s obligations in Section 14?” “Is this inspection item typical or a red flag?” “Summarize the HOA rules that would matter to a family with dogs.” This kind of document analysis is where Claude genuinely outperforms alternatives.
Pros:
- Handles very long documents (contracts, inspections, HOA docs) better than competitors
- Writing output tends to be more natural and less obviously AI-generated
- Strong at nuanced analysis and catching details in complex documents
Cons:
- Smaller plugin/integration ecosystem compared to ChatGPT
- Can be overly cautious and add unnecessary caveats to its responses
- Free tier has stricter usage limits during peak times
Agents who regularly work with complex documents — luxury market agents, commercial agents, anyone dealing with unusual contract structures — should use Claude alongside ChatGPT. The document analysis alone is worth the Pro subscription. For agents whose AI use is mainly writing social posts and listing descriptions, ChatGPT is probably sufficient on its own. The smart play is to use both: ChatGPT for quick tasks and creative content, Claude for document review and careful writing.
